Success story: Gordy

Gordy (left) and Gemma
Gordy fills our hearts with joy!
Gordy is a five year old yellow Lab my husband and I adopted from LRR two years ago. We had recently lost our 14 year old black Lab, Matlock, and all of us (including Gemma, our 9 year old Golden Retriever) were mourning our great loss. We didn’t want to raise another puppy, but have always had Golden or Labrador Retrievers, so we went to LRR. We received the call about a month after we applied and went to the foster home to see Gordy.
The foster home was a Labrador Retriever haven with Labs of all shades playing and chuckling throughout the house and yard. In the midst of this Gordy came bounding out of the foster home’s kitchen and ran over to us quickly giving both of us many kisses. He was a friendly, sweet, good looking, and lovable guy. We took him outside to meet Gemma and while it wasn’t “love at first sight” they obviously were not bothered by one another.
We walked Gordy around the neighborhood and were thrilled he was good on a lead. We read his biography and knew immediately he was the one we had prayed for. Gordy had a new home!
It’s like he has always been with us since we got him home. He and Gemma quickly became best friends and I smile when I catch them kissing one another when they don’t think anyone is watching. Gordy loves everyone!! People, kids, dogs—even our hamster, Hope! He loves to kiss her when she comes out at night.
We are forever grateful to LRR for helping us to find the perfect companion for Michael, Gemma and myself. While we will never forget Matlock and others we have lost, Gordy has filled a void in our home and we absolutely love and cherish him. Thank you LRR!!
