Our dogs
All LRR Labs are purebred to the best of our knowledge. Some of our dogs come into the program from shelters, dog officers, and veterinary clinics, but most come from private homes.
The dogs surrendered to us are given up because of relocation, lack of time and/or training, and family changes (new baby, divorce).
Rescue Labs range in age from 6 months to over 10 years.
Before adoption, LRR Labs are spayed or neutered, brought up-to-date on vaccinations, and have a recent heartworm test.
We neither accept nor place dogs over the Internet.
We treat every placement as an individual case, matching the needs of each particular Lab with the suitability of the adopting household for that dog.
Where are the dogs?
We do not place photos of available Labs on our website. We place dogs only in homes that have been pre-approved after a telephone interview, written application, and home study. By the time a picture would be placed on our website, we would already be in the process of matching the Lab with a family that has successfully completed the application process.
We do not have a kennel where people can view and choose dogs. Instead we use a network of foster homes to house the Labs awaiting adoption, and our Placement Coordinator works with applicants to find a suitable match based on home environment and lifestyle.
